Teya Turns 4!!!

Well, it's official....my baby is growing up!!!  This time next year she'll be a school girl!!  Wow, where did the time go?   I can't believe she's already 4.  It really does seem like yesterday that I had her.  Some days she seems too wise for such a little girl....I'm sure there's a large dash of my mum in her and I like that :-)

Pictionary!!

Yesterday the boys and I played pictionary and I haven't laughed so hard in ages!!!  Aaron and I were teamed up against Michael and Brent and with a left handed 6yr old as my partner I knew we probably wouldn't win.....but we laughed so much it didn't matter.  I had tears streaming down my face.

The first picture is Aarons idea of a penguin!!!  Left of the penguin is a cube of ice and left of that is an igloo!!!  Seriously, with only a minute on the timer there was no way I was gonna get that one!!  I came up with jail bird...lol...and I reckon that was pretty good considering what I had to work with.

The second picture is 'head and shoulders'....I mean come on!!!!!  How is that head and shoulders???  I guessed bridge, temple, cityline, church...boy, I was waaaaaay off!!!  Why couldn't he have just drawn a head and some shoulders!!!!  It was certainly an interesting insight into the minds of my boys......and I think they all need help!!

We finally heard back from the folk at Enrich in regards to Bruisers application and guess what?...he has made it through to the next round(day work shop I think) but unfortunately it's scheduled for the 20th of this month and we will be in Australia.  So thats that.  He was disappointed but I suggested he might get to try again next year and he was happy with that.  We gave him the option of staying in Nz with dad for the workshop then flying out later but he didn't want that.  I think he made the right choice :-)

Brains and coughs

This is my wee bruiser competing at the zones earlier this year.  He's turning into quite the athlete and I'm so proud of him.  Not only is he quite talented physically it turns out he actually has a brain as well....who'd have thought!!  We recently filled in an application for him to attend ENRICH, which is quite a huge deal.  Its all quite a process apparently and we are just at the very early stages of selection.   We are just stoked he's come this far.  Not bad for the kid who didn't pick up a book til he was 8, despite constant begging and pleading from us.

Aaron was off school AGAIN today....he has another chesty cough.  I'm hoping it won't come to much because 'the holiday' is getting closer!!!...watch this space :-)

ok..so we've been a little slack lately with the blog.  But we will make up for that now!!

I love this snap of Aaron at swimming practise.  We bought an underwater camera specifically to take on holiday.  We took it to the pool to test it out and were delighted with the shots....although it is a little  unnerving putting an expensive piece of equipment under water!!

We took the kids to the Dunkleys craft show and as you can see they bought a balloon each.  Aarons is a crocodile and Teya's is a poodle.  I've decided I'm gonna learn how to make these balloon animals and grow rich expoiting gullible parents!!  Seriously...$6 for about 5 minutes work...thats a good pay rate!  beats nursing wages thats for sure and sure as heck beats stay at home mum wages!!!
At least once a month we take the kids to feed the ducks.  They have invented a new sport called "duck bowling"  The idea is you take a stale crust or bun and roll it hard and fast at the birds in the hope of knocking down a duck(or goose)  Luckily for the bird life the kids have lousy aim!! When the bread runs out we play tag and have races.  At least one child slips and falls over and gets covered in mud and poo at which point we go home.  Last time it was Stu who fell in the poop and I nearly wet myself laughing!!  It's the little things you have to stop and enjoy :-)
